Jennifer Campanella’s kindergarten students at Our Lady of Grace School, Gravesend, observed National Fire Safety and Prevention Month (October) with a visit from Firefighter Andy AJ Joseph from Engine 280 in Prospect Heights, above, and firefighters from Ladder 153 in Sheepshead Bay. Students were thrilled when they each got to spray a fire extinguisher and sit in the big red firetruck.

 

“Catholicism and Orthodoxy: Perspectives and Dialogue” is the topic of an interfaith lecture to be held in Lyons Hall at Immaculate Conception Church, Astoria, Nov. 19, 7 p.m. The presenter will be Father Nathanael Symeonides, director of the Greek Orthodox Office of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumentical and Interfaith Relations. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

St. Gregory the Great School, Bellerose, announced the opening of its Andy Downing Media Center, which includes 35 iPads, 60-inch flat-screen WiFi television and a Mac mini computer. The center was funded by a McEntegart Grant from the Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens and a donation from pre-k aide, Angela Downing, in memory of her late husband. Above, Msgr.
