Futures in Education hosted its annual Angels on the Fairway Golf Outing May 12 at The Creek in Lattingtown, L.I.
The event raised over $300,000, providing scholarships to students attending Catholic grammar schools in Brooklyn and Queens.
Former Futures in Education board member, Kevin Crowe, was honored for being instrumental in beginning and developing the Angels on the Fairway Outing 13 years ago. After a successful career in finance, Crowe has continued supporting education.
During the program, he told guests, “I’d like to encourage any of you who would like to know more about Futures that this is a worthwhile organization that helps thousands of students attend school and pursue their dreams. When you see them in their programs, whether it be music, math, science … it’s very heartwarming.”
Mary Muir, an eighth-grade student at St. Sebastian School, Woodside, spoke at the event. She expressed her gratitude toward Futures in Education and her Angel.
Thanks to the financial assistance of her Angel throughout grammar school, Mary said, “I will attend Loyola School in Manhattan this fall – and thanks to your investment in me – I share even greater news! I will be going to Loyola on a $100,000 academic scholarship!
“With so many wonderful angels around, there is so much thanks to share.”
