Students’ Pilgrimage Helps Feed the Hungry

MPB-Pilgrimage

The sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders from the Faith Formation Program at Most Precious Blood parish, Astoria, along with their catechists, embarked on a month-long quest to raise money for City Harvest and Syrian refugees through the Jesuits’ “Feed the Hungry, Mercy Walk.” They looked for donations from the congregation after Masses and from family, friends and neighbors who sponsored them.

The fundraiser culminated with a 4-mile walk that included visits to three parishes: St. Patrick and St. Rita in Long Island City, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Astoria, where they were welcomed by Father Peter Hoa Nguyen and Msgr. Sean Ogle, pastor. At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, they had the opportunity to pass through the designated Holy Doors of Mercy.
