Letters to the Editor

Stop PC Kowtowing

Dear Editor: I want to thank Father David Bertolotti for his magnificent and very inspiring letter (Feb. 14) titled “Cuomo’s Personal Choice.”

Unlike Father Edward Mason’s commentary (Feb. 7), which in my opinion gave unwarranted praise to the former governor, it was quite refreshing and reaffirming to read Father David’s letter professing our true Catholic doctrine.

Father David is to be commended for his courage and fidelity to say what needs to be said.

Perhaps those who give credence to Catholic politicians that either outright support abortion or that claim the “personally opposed, but” rhetoric, should ask themselves one simple question: Are my words and actions helping Catholic politicians live the Gospel or rather giving them an outlet and an excuse for cowardice and discounting natural law and morality?

The time is now that we the Catholic Church, including all of its leaders stop kowtowing to so-called political correctness and unite in living and proclaiming the Gospel. Isn’t this the purpose for which God has placed each and every one of us on this Earth?
