St. Saviour Student Competes at NYS YMCA Swimming Championships

photo 2From March 14-16, St. Saviour H.S. sophomore Mariah Jenkins competed in the NYS YMCA Swimming Championships at Ithaca College.

Mariah has been swimming competitively since the age of eight.

For the past five years she has been training at the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA, and in each of those years she has qualified to compete at the NYS YMCA Swimming Championships.

The NYS YMCA Swimming Championships features swimmers representing over 45 YMCAs in NY State.

To earn an invitation all competitors must achieve qualifying times established by the NYS Swim Commission.

This year, Mariah qualified to swim in the 100m breaststroke event, and her relay team qualified to swim in both the 200m free and 400m free relay competitions.
