As temperatures soared, thousands lined Third Ave. for the 26th annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 24. The day began with Mass celebrated by Father Greg McIlhenny at St. Patrick’s Church. Sister Febronia Loewenstein, C.S.J., former principal of Our Lady of Perpetual Help H.S., was honored as Grand Marshal. Deputy Marshals included: Frances Korn, Chrisie Canny, Bernadette Kash, Helen Mitchell, James Cassidy, John Cadotte, Stephen Clavin, and Edward Moloney Jr. The Edwards family of St. Patrick’s parish was honored as Family of the Year. Proceeds from the event assist Catholic schools in Bay Ridge. The parade was conducted in memory of the late five-year-old Sally Kabel, known in the neighborhood as Little Sally Sunshine, who died last September from complications of cancer care.
