Developing Students’ Character and Potential
St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy, Park Slope, recognizes that each child is a precious gift from God. Like snowflakes, no two children are exactly alike – and no two children learn in exactly the same way. Programs are designed for those who learn as fast as they can or take as much time as they need. Attention to learning style is the difference.
St. Joseph’s offers a challenging academic curriculum that is rich in religious formation and the moral values children will need to succeed in life. The academy creates a safe and encouraging environment that challenges bright minds to explore their interests and discover the best in themselves, their classmates and the world. The academy offers the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment activities that serve to deepen student motivation and potential.
To nurture the spiritual dimension of students, class Masses, prayer services and various community service endeavors are undertaken to deepen the prayer experiences and the sharing of faith. St. Joseph’s dedicated faculty works tirelessly each and every day with students to guide and nurture them in all aspects of their life.
Guided by Faith
Development of character and self-discipline are strong pillars of the program. Students are encouraged to explore childhood and adolescent issues and to take informed positions on issues, be courageous in expressing their convictions and religious values and to be guided by their Catholic faith.
The academy is embracing the challenges presented by the establishment of the Common Core curriculum. Technology integration throughout the curriculum is enhancing that implementation. The academy participates in the Renzulli online learning system and has been designated as a focus school by the Catholic Telemedia Network. Field trips also complement the learning process.
St. Joseph offers assistance to parents in applying for the various scholarships provided by the diocese. Tours are available any day. This faith-based education is well worth the cost.
