On May 11, students from St. Agnes Academic High School, College Point, participated in a Spring Clean Up at MacNeil Park.
Organized by the student council, 25 students walked to the park with garbage bags and gloves in hand ready to work.
With assistance of officers from the 109th Precinct, students split up into groups and covered different areas of the park.
One group of students walked down to the kayak and canoe launching area which was most impacted by garbage washing up from the East River.
The park is significant to St. Agnes as the cross country and track team have utilized the park for team practices.
Senior Destany Batista, cross country member and student council president said, “As a member of the Cross Country team, I run at MacNeil Park every day of the fall. It’s a great feeling to know that I’ve helped clean the park my school’s sport’s team runs in so frequently.”
