The St. Augustine H.S., Park Slope, Alumni Association will host its annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony Nov. 4. This year’s class includes Bishop James Griffiths, ’19 (posthumously), Edward Smith, ’62, Ed Fogarty, ’67, Mark Frazer, ’67, and Charles O’Donnell (faculty and coach).
Bishop Griffiths served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York from 1950 to 1964. Smith, a Vietnam veteran, enjoyed a nearly 40-year career at KPMG.
Fogarty, a product of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sunset Park, played three years of basketball for the Lancers. He was also vice president of the Student Council.
Frazer grew up in St. Theresa of Avila parish, Prospect Heights, before becoming a Third-Team All-City basketball player at St. Augustine. He was also class president during his freshman, sophomore and junior years. He went on to play basketball at Fairfield University, Conn.
O’Donnell attended St. Teresa of Avila School, Prospect Heights, and then Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., Fort Greene. He played baseball and basketball at Loughlin and continued playing both sports at Loyola University, Baltimore, Md. He served as a teacher, basketball coach and athletic director at St. Augustine from 1964 to 1967. He has also served as the Brooklyn/Queens CHSAA vice president for 38 years as well as the St. Augustine alumni coordinator for 13 years.
