Sports Round-Up Oct. 3

Following the guidance of the New York State CHSAA, the local Catholic high school football league (CHSFL) had moved the Fall 2020 season to March and April of next year. The league has approved the addition of 7-on-7 flag football league for this fall. Contests are set to begin weekend of Oct. 10.


The St. John’s University, Jamaica, Athletic Department is hosting a virtual golf classic to benefit the school’s student-athletes. Golfers are invited to play a round of golf at the course and location of their choice. The final date to submit a scorecard is Monday, Oct. 19. Two Christ the King H.S., Middle Village, varsity football players have made their college decisions.

Noah Bodden, the senior quarterback and team captain, has committed to play at Grambling State University, Grambling, La. As a junior, Bodden threw for 2,840 yards and 23 touchdowns en route to a CHSFL All-League selection. He was named a Tablet All-Star in 2018 and 2019.

Senior linebacker Bak Harris announced that he is heading to Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn.

In other Christ the King football news, recent graduate Jared Harrison-Hunte, a redshirt freshman defensive lineman at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla., recorded his first collegiate sack against the University of Louisville, Ky.
