Sports Round-Up Nov. 14

St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, enjoyed two recent championships. The boys’ varsity cross-country team won this year’s CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens championship, while the girls’ varsity tennis team captured the Nassau-Suffolk league title.


Former Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) basketball player Patrick Kearney died Nov. 2. He played CYO hoops for St. Mary Gate of Heaven, Ozone Park, and earned a full scholarship to St. John’s University, Jamaica. He also spent time coaching basketball at Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, next to legendary coach Jack Curran.
