Sports Round-Up March 23

Kelly O’Donnell, a sophomore on the St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, Clinton Hill, women’s basketball team, was selected to the D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team.

The graduate of St. Edmund Prep H.S., Sheepshead Bay, finished the season tied for the league lead in points scored while averaging 18.5 pts. per game. By grabbing 10.7 rebounds per game, she was one of six players in the league to average a double-double per game.

O’Donnell becomes the first Bear in team history to land a spot on the All-Region Team.


The Catholic Youth Organization’s indoor track season wrapped up with the following squads taking home diocesan championships titles:

Boys

Eastern Division
1) Our Lady of Lourdes, Queens Village: 147 pts.
2) Mary’s Nativity-St. Anne, Flushing: 52 pts.
3) St. Kevin, Flushing: 43 pts.

Western Division
1) St. Joan of Arc, Jackson Heights: 41 pts.
2) Holy Trinity, Whitestone: 34 pts.
3) St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, Ozone Park: 27 pts.

Girls

Eastern Division
1) Our Lady of Lourdes: 135 pts.
2) Mary’s Nativity-St. Anne, Flushing: 66 pts.
3) Our Lady of Mercy, Forest Hills: 57 pts.

Western Division
1) Our Lady of the Snows, North Floral Park: 27 pts.
2) St. Joan of Arc: 22 pts.
3) St. Kevin: 20 pts.
