The Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge, girls’ junior varsity soccer team was honored June 16 by the New York Cosmos at MCU Park, Coney Island. The team was fresh off capturing the GCHSAA city title in its first year as a program as well as the first girls’ sports title in school history. The team finished the 2016 JV campaign undefeated while recording seven shutouts and outscoring its opponents by 50 goals. The Clippers are set to move up to the varsity level next season. “To have the girls back together again, looking and feeling like a team while being recognized by a professional soccer organization and our Xaverian community, was a fantastic way to end the 2016-2017 school year,” said the team’s head coach Erin Kennedy. “Gathering with the soccer team for the NY Cosmos match was a great opportunity to get together and celebrate our championship one last time before we go back to work next season,” said rising sophomore Isabella Ferraro.
