Rising junior outfielder Jose Silva, who plays baseball for Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, has made it through to the third round of the U.S.A. Baseball National Team Identification Series.
The U.S.A. Baseball National Team Identification Series is the most comprehensive player identification program offered by Team U.S.A. With tryouts in every region of the country, players now have greater access to U.S.A. Baseball National Team opportunities than ever before. The program includes six separate age groups – 11U, 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U and 17U.
Two local CHSAA boys’ basketball products have transferred to renowned hoops powerhouse Oak Hill Academy, Mouth of Wilson, Va., for their senior seasons.
Kofi Cockburn, a six-foot-eleven center who played at Christ the King H.S., Middle Village, and Cole Anthony, a point guard from Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, are taking their talents down south.
Anthony was recently named M.V.P. of Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League after averaging 26.2 pts. and 8.4 rebounds per game. Cockburn played in the same league and averaged 15.8 pts. and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Both players – who were each Tablet All-Stars each of the past two seasons – are currently ranked among the top high school basketball players in the country.
