Dear Editor: Thanks to Karen Osborne for her Dec. 5 column challenging teens to “Start Building a Peaceful Future.”
Discussing violent headline events she was aware of growing up, Karen suggests that the U.S. military’s 1991 Operation Desert Storm was as terrifying for the citizens of Baghdad as the bombings one month ago were for the residents of Paris.
Karen believes that today’s teens will, as adults, try to build a world free of such violence and terror. It is never easy, in the pages of The Tablet, to criticize our government’s war-making. I give Karen credit for speaking out in favor of peace.
