On the anniversary of his death, students, parents, faculty/staff, police men and women, and community members joined at the Detective Brian Moore Memorial Garden on the south side of Gregorian Hall for a memorial service and garden re-dedication ceremony.
Msgr. Edward Ryan, pastor, opened the ceremony and led all in prayer. Following the prayer, Principal Lynn M. Alaimo read a poem from the back of Brian Moore’s prayer card. Students and teachers were given blue carnations, which were then placed at the foot of the memorial plaque, which contains Moore’s picture.
Amazing Grace was played on the bagpipes. More than 50 officers attended. Overall, there were more than 450 people present.
In June of 2015, St. Gregory the Great School, with the help of Home Depot and many other volunteers, built a memorial garden in memory of Police Officer Brian Moore from the 105th Precinct. The 105th Precinct serves the Bellerose area.
Officer Moore had a special connection with St. Gregory’s as he was at the parish’s annual Gregorian Festival as an on-duty officer every year. The memorial garden dedication and ceremony took place on June 20, 2015. Officer Brian Moore was unfortunately lost in a horrible tragedy during a stop in May, 2015.
