Sister Maureen Gleason, C.S.J., formerly Sister Miriam Assumpta, died June 9, in Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood, L.I. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1956.

In 1961, she attended Brentwood College and did graduate studies in math and education at Brooklyn College and administration at St. John’s and Fordham universities.

She served at St. John the Evangelist, Park Slope, 1960-62; St. Mary Star of the Sea, Far Rockaway 1962-66; St. Athanasius, Bensonhurst, 1966-68; St. Francis of Assisi, Crown Heights, 1968-73; St. Ann, Flushing, 1973-75; was principal at St. Rose of Lima, Parkville, 1975-84; and taught at St. Joseph H.S., Downtown Brooklyn, 1984-2008.

She retired in 2010.
