Sister Mary Mark Lowery, I.H.M., 88, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for nearly 70 years, died Aug. 17 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa.

Born Catherine Teresa in Pittsburgh, Pa., she entered the IHM Congregation on Sept. 8, 1948. She made her temporary profession of vows on May 8, 1951 and her final profession on Aug. 2, 1954.

Formerly known as Sister M. St. Mark, she served locally as a teacher at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School, Forest Hills, 1954-56, and Blessed Sacrament School in Staten Island, 1990-2000.

She is survived by her brother, Brother Mark Lowery, F.S.C., of Pittsburgh, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Residence, Scranton. Burial followed at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
