Sister Mary Ann Mattes, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 62 years, died Jan. 15.
She attended Holy Child Jesus School, Richmond Hill, and Bishop McDonnell H.S., Crown Heights, before entering the congregation in 1956 from Holy Child.
Formerly known as Sister Mary Jeremy, she taught at St. Michael, Flushing, 1959-62; Holy Name, Windsor Terrace, 1962-66; St. Matthew, Crown Heights; and Nativity of Our Blessed Lord, Bedford-Stuyvesant, 1968-70.
She was the registrar at Cathedral H.S., Manhattan, 1974 to 2000. She continued ministering at The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica Estates, and as a librarian at the Immaculate Conception Monastery, also Jamaica Estates, until 2006.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Immaculate Conception Monastery.
