Sister Mary Ann Carotenuto, C.S.J., a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 60 years, died Dec. 8 at the Maria Regina Residence.
After graduating from The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica Estates, in 1957, she entered the congregation in 1958 from Holy Child Jesus parish, Richmond Hill. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Brentwood College and a master’s in administration and supervision from Manhattan College.
She taught at St. Vincent de Paul, Williamsburg, 1961-66; Holy Cross, Flatbush, 1966-68; Our Lady of Lourdes, West Islip, L.I., 1968-73; St. Paul the Apostle, Corona, 1973-84.
For 25 years, she was principal of St. Robert Bellarmine School, Bayside, 1979-2004. She then served at her alma mater, The Mary Louis Academy as supervisor of maintenance, 2004-15, and co-moderator of the alumnae association, 2005-17.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 12 in Maria Regina Chapel.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
