Sister Magdalen Oliver, S.C., a Sister of Charity, Halifax, Nova Scotia, for 65 years, died in the QE II Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dec. 18. She was 84.

Formerly known as Sister Francis Stephen, she taught in the primary grades at Our Lady of Angels School, Bay Ridge, 1962-68, and as a second-grade teacher, 1972-2002. She then ministered as a nurse’s aide and in-home care for the Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center, Bay Ridge, 2002-06.

In her retirement, she resided at St. Frances Cabrini Convent, Bath Beach, 2007-09, before returning to Halifax.
