Sister Josephine Adams, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 72 years, died at Maria Regina Residence, July 16.
She entered the congregation in 1945 from Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Astoria. She earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Manhattan College and certification in administration and supervision from St. John’s University, Jamaica.
She taught at St. James, Downtown Brooklyn, 1947-52; St. Augustine, Park Slope, 1952-56; St. Joseph, Pacific St., Prospect Heights, 1956-58; Ascension, Elmhurst, 1958-61; Our Lady of Sorrows, Corona, 1961-64, and Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst, 1979-81.
At St. Malachy, East New York, she served first as a teacher, 1964-74, and then as principal, 1974-79.
She also served as principal at Most Precious Blood, Long Island City, 1981-90; Immaculate Conception, Jamaica, 1990-96, and St. Robert Bellarmine, Bayside, 1996-98, and then retired.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Maria Regina Chapel, July 20. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.
