Sister Helen Del Carpine, M.P.F.

Sister Helen

Sister Helen Del Carpine, M.P.F., 93, a member of the Religious Teachers Filippini for almost 78 years, died June 24 at St. Joseph Hall, Morristown, N.J.

Born and raised in New York City, she entered the congregation on July 7, 1940. She received her religious habit the following year, and made her final profession on Aug. 27, 1944.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.

For more than 45 years, she taught elementary grades in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and New York. Locally, she served as a third-grade teacher at St. Bernadette School, Dyker Heights, 1980-87. She also taught religion classes after school wherever she was missioned.

In 2011, she entered St. Joseph Hall at Villa Walsh.

She was predeceased by her 11 siblings, including Sister Louise Del Carpine, M.P.F.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Lucy Chapel, Villa Walsh, Morristown, June 27. Interment followed at Ave Maria Cemetery.
