Sister Eileen Cecilia Kelly, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 69 years, died at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood, June 10.
She entered the congregation in 1948 from St. Jerome parish, East Flatbush.
She obtained a bachelor of business administration degree from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico; a master’s degree in Spanish from St. John’s University; a master’s in pastoral ministry from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, L.I., and certification in gerontology from St. Joseph’s College in 1985.
Formerly Sister Mary Cajetan, she taught at St. Patrick, Long Island City, 1950-51; St. Anthony, Greenpoint, 1951-53; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Williamsburg, 1953-56; Colegio Santa Teresita, Ponce, 1956-62; St. Ambrose, Bedford-Stuyvesant, 1962-64; Immaculate Conception, Jamaica, 1964-65; and then St. Joseph H.S., Downtown Brooklyn, 1965-67.
In 1967, she moved to Long Island, where she ministered at Holy Family H.S., South Huntington, until 1975; St. John Nepomecene, Bohemia, 1975-82; served as superior of St. Joseph Convent, Brentwood, 1982-86; and served with the Suffolk County Dept. of Aging, Hauppauge, 1986-2000, and St. Anne’s Gardens, Brentwood, 2000-09.
She retired in 2009.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
