Sister Damian Marie McKeever, S.C., (Mary Agnes), a Sister of Charity of New York for 69 years, died March 1 at the Convent of Mary the Queen. She was 86.

Born in Manhattan, she attended Sacred Heart School and Cathedral H.S. before entering the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1946. She attended the College of Mount St. Vincent and Boston College and received N.Y.S. permanent certification in the areas of elementary education, administration and supervision and as a reading specialist.

Her first teaching assignment was St. Paul School, Cobble Hill, 1948-53.

In 1966, Sister Damian became the principal of Our Lady of the Angelus School, Rego Park, where she served for the next 13 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 5 at the Convent of Mary the Queen. Burial was in St. Agatha’s Cemetery, Nanuet, N.Y.

She is survived by her brother Joseph McKeever.
