Sister Carol Marie Lentz, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 68 years, died at Maria Regina Residence, July 24.

She entered the congregation from St. Cecilia’s parish, Greenpoint. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, in 1961, and did further studies at the Catholic University of Puerto Rico in phonology/ linguistics.

She taught at St. Joseph, Pacific St., Prospect Heights, 1951-54; Holy Child Jesus, Richmond Hill, 1954-63; Academia Santa Monica, Santurce, Puerto Rico, 1963-71; St. Anthony of Padua, Greenpoint, 1971-75, and St. Stanislaus, Maspeth, 1984-88.

She served as assistant principal of St. Teresa of Avila, Prospect Heights, 1975-84.

In 1988, she became the secretary at The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica, and served in that role until 2006. She remained there as a volunteer in her retirement.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Maria Regina Chapel, July 27. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
