Sister Bernard Loretto Carr, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 78 years, died in Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood.
She entered the congregation in 1937 from Holy Cross, Flatbush. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from St. John’s University, Jamaica, 1956, and certification in Spanish from Brentwood College.
She taught at St. Teresa of Avila, Prospect Heights, 1939-41; St. Michael, Flushing, 1941-45; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Long Island City, 1945- 46; Academia San Jorge, Santurce, Puerto Rico, 1946-50; Colegio San Conrado, Ponce, Puerto Rico, 1950-52; Epiphany, Williamsburg, 1952-57; St. Francis of Assisi, Crown Heights, 1957-63; St. Michael, Sunset Park, 1963-64; SS. Peter and Paul, Williamsburg, 1964-70; Immaculate Conception, Williamsburg, 1970-81; and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sunset Park, 1981-2008.
She later retired to Sacred Heart Convent, Hempstead, L.I., and then to Maria Regina Residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Chapel, Brentwood.
Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
