Ready for Thanksgiving

by Tira Ann Affatato

The annual St. Agnes H.S., College Point, Harvest Dinner brought together the families, friends, teachers, staff, and students that make up the St. Agnes community for a delightful kickoff to the Thanksgiving season.

During the dinner, families enjoyed a buffet dinner, prepared by the supreme ladies of the St. Agnes lunch staff, while enjoying the special talents of various St. Agnes students.

The warmth of the Thanksgiving season could be felt the instant one entered the room. The school auditorium was set with seasonal decorations and colors and lighted by the gorgeous hurricane candle centerpieces that adorned each table.

The festivities commenced with a cheer. The spirited and energetic St. Agnes Cheerleaders were called upon to give a warm welcome to all the guests.

The girls of the freshman class displayed their talent by singing solos and duets while playing guitar and dancing elegantly across the stage.

Sophomores caught the dance fever with their Irish step dance and tap dance performances.

In between each routine, juniors Jennifer Galvin and Amanda Piecyk entertained the audience with comedic numbers.

Among the highlights of the night when Sister Joan Martin, O.P., principal, enthusiastically presented a second base straight off the Citi Field, which will be awarded in a silent auction in the months to come.

This year’s Harvest Dinner was hosted by Sister Joan and Susan Nicoletti, assistant principal. *** Tira Ann Affatato is a senior at St. Agnes H.S.
