October is breast cancer awareness month, so to show its support, St. Stanislaus parish, Ozone Park, hosted the “Battle Against Breast Cancer” basketball tournament.

All the proceeds raised during the preseason Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) tournament are donated to fund breast cancer research.
Joe Bode, the director of the parish CYO program dedicates the annual tournament to his wife, Ronni – a 12-year breast cancer survivor – to those battling the disease and to all those who have lost their lives.

This year’s winners include host team St. Stan’s in one division and St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor, in the other division.

Special thanks goes out to St. Pancras, Glendale; Holy Child Jesus, Richmond Hill; and St. Stan’s, Maspeth, for their participation in the tournament.
