The month-long celebration of St. Patrick’s Day got underway with the 44th annual Queens Parade in Rockaway. The day began with a Mass for justice and peace at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor. Thomas A. Callahan, president and business manager of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 15, served as Grand Marshal. Other honorees included: Kieran O’Hanlon, Gael of the Year; Catherine T. Hogan, honorary female Grand Marshal; John Norbury, honorary male Grand Marshal; and Deputy Marshals, Father Tom Basquel, C.S.Sp., of St. Camillus parish, Pat Cullen, Lynda Collins, James Morton, Wil Hurley, Michael Moran, Donald Morrish, MD, and Joe Caruana.
