Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio received a Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, which was awarded by Bronisław Komorowski, former president of the Republic of Poland. The Polish government recognized the continuous support of Bishop DiMarzio to the Polish-American community as well as his tireless advocacy of the Polish Pope John Paul II. Among the guests at the event were newly appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn Witold Mroziewski, as well as priests who minister to Polish-Americans in Brooklyn and Queens.
