Bay Ridge hosted its 28th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 26. The luck of the Irish was certainly on display as a long line of distinguished Irish and honorary Irish community leaders, representatives, schools and businesses marched along the boulevard.

The parade began on Marine Avenue and 95th Street following a Mass at St. Patrick’s Church on 4th Ave. and 95th Street.

This year’s distinguished honorees included Grand Marshal Matthew D’Emic, a Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge, and the Moran family, who were recognized as Irish Family of the Year. Additionally, there were 10 Deputy Marshals and Robert Puglia was named Honorary Irishman of the Year.

Among those participating in the parade was U.S. Rep. Nicole Maliotakis who happily waved to her constituents, state Senator Andrew Gounardes, newly-elected Brooklyn Assemblymember Alec Brook-Krasny, City Councilmembers Justin Brannan and Ari Kagan, and former state Senator Marty Golden, who waved from one of the many vintage automobiles that lined the parade route. DeSales Media was a proud sponsor of the always anticipated event.
