Parishes Observe Pope’s 60th Anniversary

All parishes of the diocese have been asked to conduct a spiritual observance in honor of the 60th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI.
The Congregation of the Clergy in Rome has suggested that each diocese offer 60 hours of Eucharistic adoration to observe the milestone in the Holy Father’s life.
The time should be offered for the intention of the sanctification of the clergy and for the gift of new and holy priestly vocations.
Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has asked all pastors and administrators to schedule in their parishes one hour of Eucharistic adoration on any of the following days:
• Sunday, June 26, the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ,
• Any weekday, June 27, 28, 29 or 30, or
• Friday, July 1, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, the World Day of Prayer for Priests, and the First Friday of the month.
The diocesan effort is being coordinated by Msgr. Raymond Chappetto, Father Joseph Fonti, and Father Kevin Abels, diocesan vocations director.
