Detective Brian Curley has been a member of NYPD for 18 years. He began his service at the 75th Precinct in Brooklyn before moving to the Task Force. For the last 10 years, he has served in the Organized Crime Control Bureau.
In 2008, he was promoted to Detective in the Firearms Suppression Division that has gotten thousands of illegal handguns off the streets of New York.
Previous to joining the NYPD, he spent 16 years at Catholic Charities working for people with developmental disabilities. He served as director of the Garfield Manor and Connolly residences in Brooklyn.
He has coached Brooklyn Special Olympics events in basketball, floor hockey as well as track and field since he was 14 years old.
In the small world department, it turns out that he attended St Joseph’s College along with Sister Marie Mackey, C.S.J., another honoree at this year’s Fair.
His father hails from County Cork and his mother from Sligo. He is the oldest of six boys and resides in Rockaway Beach.
