Catholic Schools Week 2016

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy, Queens Village

A Foundation of Faith, Academics, Peace

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy is a Catholic elementary school in Queens Village with a diverse population that provides an engaging educational experience for grades nursery to eight, with full day nursery and pre-kindergarten programs, as well as the Prekindergarten For All Program.

Our Catholic school community creates a Christian atmosphere infused with the Gospel spirit. Students develop a personal relationship with God and apply the hopeful message of Jesus to their daily lives. As a faith community, there is a strong Catholic Identity and religion is a daily part of each student’s educational experience.

Academics

To bolster the success of its educational programs, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy has incorporated technology into each classroom to help students become lifelong learners. Interactive whiteboards are used to raise the level of student engagement, motivate students and promote enthusiasm for learning.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy provides instruction guided by the N.Y.S. Common Core standards and diocesan standards. The school provides Title I teachers in literacy, mathematics, and student services, as well as a Resource Room to address students with academic needs. Special subject teachers provide excellent instruction in art, music, and Spanish (grades four through eight), while computer classes and physical education also receive focused attention. The Student Council adds life to the school community.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Academy is also focused on working in partnership with the families. There is an active Home Academy Association. For working parents/guardians the Extended Day program before and after school provides a warm environment for students to work on homework and receive special attention. The school also provides an Early Childhood Program for 3-, 4-, and 5- year-olds that includes structured learning and socialization.
