Ordination Day

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio ordained Rodnev Pierre Lapommeray, Dariusz Strzelecki and Daniel Krzysztof Rajski as priests to serve the Diocese of Brooklyn on Saturday, June 4, at St. James Cathedral-Basilica, Downtown Brooklyn. Others members of the hierarchy present were Auxiliary Bishop Frank Caggiano, Vicar General; retired Auxiliary Bishops Joseph M. Sullivan and Guy Sansaricq; and visiting Nigerian Archbishop Valerian Okeke from the Archdiocese of Onitsha in Nigeria. Father Lapommeray, whose parents were born in Haiti, is Brooklyn-born, while Fathers Strzelecki and Rajski are natives of Poland. Their first parish assignments can be found on Page 7. During the ceremony, the newly ordained pledged allegiance to the bishop and then laid prostrate while the congregation prayed the Litany of the Saints. The bishop then laid hands on each one’s head, anointed their hands with holy oils and presented each with the chalice and paten. The following day, the new priests celebrated their First Masses of thanksgiving.
