Baseball season is officially open for the young members of the sports program at St. Athanasius Church, Bensonhurst. Suited up uniforms, players participated in an opening day parade May 21 through the neighborhood streets, led by Msgr. David Cassato, pastor. Also coming out to support the youth on opening day were members of the NYPD’s 62nd Precinct, Councilmen Mark Treyger and Assemblyman Peter Abbate Jr., and Councilman David Greenfield, not pictured.
