In his homily, delivered in Spanish, Bishop Brennan told parishioners “In the first reading, God is looking for Adam and Eve in the Garden. God calls for them like a father looking for a lost child. “‘Where are you?’”

Bishop Brennan reflected on the tender relationship between God and His creation and how He would often walk with Adam and Eve in the afternoon before the fall.

“Imagine, the God that created the whole world from nothing and formed it from chaos, walking with his people, with tenderness in the afternoon dew. This is His plan for humanity. But, after the fall – Adam and Eve hide in shame. But God never gives up,” Brennan said.

Saint Pope Paul VI declared Our Lady of Divine Providence as the patron saint of Puerto Rico on November 19, 1969.
