Obituary — Sister Mary Ann Crimmins, C.S.J.

Sister Mary Ann Crimmins, C.S.J., a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 56 years, died at Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip, L.I., Oct. 25.

She entered the congregation from Our Lady of Angels parish, Bay Ridge, in 1957. She earned a master’s degree in math from Queens College and a degree in administration/supervision from Fordham University, N.Y. In 1998, she received credentials as a senior professional in human resources from St. Joseph’s College. In the course of her studies she participated on several executive boards, diocesan committees, federation and parish programs.

Formerly known as Sister Eileen Maria, she taught at St. John the Evangelist, Park Slope, 1960-61; St. John of God, West Islip, 1962-64; St. Martha, Uniondale, L.I., 1964-66, and St. Mel, Flushing, 1966-75. She was principal of St. Philip Neri, Northport, L.I., 1975-92, and St. John the Baptist de la Salle Regional, Bethpage, L.I., 1992-94.

She was a consultant for Prentice Hall, Upper Saddle River, N.J., 1994-97; director of human resources for Dominican Village, Amityville, L.I., 1995-05; served on the C.S.J. Mission Advancement and Development Team, Brentwood, 2005-10; and was director of human resources at Martin de Porres School, Elmont, L.I., 2011-12.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Chapel, Brentwood, Oct. 28. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.

  1. What a wonderful, kind and caring sister, Sister Mary Ann Crimmins, CSJ was my math teacher at St. Mel’s, Flushing in 1972 and 1973.
    Eternal rest grant to her oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her, may her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen
