Sister Mary Joselia Colbert, S.S.N.D., died Jan. 28 at Lourdes Health Care Center in Wilton, Conn. She was 88 and had been a professed member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame for 68 years.
Born in Boston, Mass., she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help grammar and high schools in Roxbury, Mass., both staffed by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She followed an older sister into the congregation.
In 1956, she moved to Brooklyn, where she taught grades four through six at St. Saviour’s parish school, Park Slope, until 1960, then spent a year at St. Mary’s in East Islip, L.I.
She earned her master’s in American history in 1961 from St. John’s University, Jamaica.
She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Rita Marie Colbert, S.S.N.D., who died in 1994.
Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery in Bethel, Conn.
