Obituary – Sister M. Eunice Corcoran, I.H.M.

Sister Eunice

Sister M. Eunice Corcoran, I.H.M., a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for 86 years, died April 24 at Our Lady of Peace Residence, Scranton, Pa. She was 102.

Her only assignment in the Brooklyn Diocese was as principal of St. Ephrem School, Dyker Heights, from 1962 to 1968.

On her 100th birthday, she received a surprise call from Vice-President Joseph Biden, whom she had taught at St. Paul School in Scranton.

Interment was at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.

  1. Oh my I remember Sister Eunice well!!like the back if a Ruler across your knuckles!! I never felt the sting of that ruler but many others did if you got Smart mouthed She left a lasting impression thru Elementary school The Kids today could use the old school nuns to teach them respect for their elders and getting an education . RIP SR EUNICE WITH YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN! See what you can do about protecting the young kids today from the dangers they face

  2. I remember Sr Euncice . She was the principal of St Ephrems grammar school when I was a student in the 1960s. I made a few trips to the principals office for talking in class or misbehavior . I recieved a good education at St Ephrems . Many great memories .
