Sister Eileen Marie Koehler, O.P., a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, L.I., for 81 years, died June 10. She was 96.
Born in Ozone Park, she was raised in Rockville Centre. She entered the Dominican Sisters in 1934 and the following year she received the habit and her name in religion, Eileen Marie.
She taught at Corpus Christi, Mineola; St. Ignatius, Long Beach; and St. Catherine of Sienna, Franklin Square.
From 1963 to 1969, she was principal at Notre Dame, New Hyde Park.
In 1970, she was named superior at St. Rose Convent, Melville, the retirement house for 28 elderly Sisters. Later that year, the Sisters were relocated to Queen of the Rosary, Amityville.
In 1975, she was appointed as secretary to those Sisters in Vocation/ Formation. She retired to Amityville in 2003.
Burial was in the Sisters’ cemetery.
