Larry Morrish, a community activist in Bay Ridge, died Feb. 8 at NYU Lutheran Medical Center.
Well known for his public relations efforts in the community, he was one of the founders of the Bay Ridge Volunteer Ambulance, the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and the Light Up the Churches at Christmas campaign funded by Maimonides Medical Center.
He was a 1963 graduate of Fort Hamilton H.S., and was a member of the school’s Hall of Fame.
Among his clients over the years were Congress members Susan Molinari and Vito Fossella, Victory Memorial Hospital, the Brooklyn D.A. Charles J. Hynes, and the army recruitment office at Fort Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Phillippa, a teacher at Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bay Ridge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Feb. 13 at Our Lady of Angels Church, Bay Ridge, at 10:30 a.m. Following the Mass, a luncheon in honor of his life will be conducted at the Fort Hamilton Army Base Community Club.
