Joe Wood, a former staff member of the Diocesan Support Appeal Office, died Jan. 24. He was 75.
A native of St. Matthias parish, Ridgewood, he attended the parish school, St. Francis Prep, and Grover Cleveland H.S., Ridgewood.
He worked in the field of fund-raising for non-profit organizations. For 10 years, he assisted the Diocese of Brooklyn’s annual appeal.
He also volunteered with Monica’s Manor, Pete’s Place and Rose’s Residence, transitional homes on Long Island for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 27 at Corpus Christi Church, Mineola, L.I.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Marjorie; their children, Michael, Peter and Mary; and his brother, Father Paul Wood, pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Transfiguration parish, Maspeth. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph.
Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.
