Helen Coyne, who started the girls’ Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) swimming program at St. Sebastian parish in Woodside, in 1965, died Oct. 14. She was 91.

The longtime Woodside resident oversaw the entire swim program at the parish and coached her teams to 14 consecutive CYO diocesan titles in her 22 years of service. (See related story here.)

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 24 at St. Sebastian, with burial following at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, L.I.
