Obituary: Father Joseph M. Lachowski, C.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Father Joseph M. Lachowski, C.M., a Vincentian for 58 years, was celebrated Dec. 27, 2012, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Greenpoint. He died Dec. 20, 2012 at Ozanam Hall Nursing Home, Bayside. He was 84.
Born in Ansonia, Conn., he was ordained on May 27, 1954. He studied sacred theology and earned a doctorate in sacred theology at St. Thomas University (Angelicum), Rome.
Following teaching assignments on the secondary, college and seminary levels, he moved to St. Stanislaus Kostka in 1987 and served as parochial vicar. He also worked with the children’s choir and played the organ at Masses.
In his retirement, he remained at St. Stanislaus as chaplain of the St. Aloysius Club, Fatima Society and the Golden Age Club, until poor health necessitated a move to Ozanam Hall.
Auxiliary Bishop Raymond F. Chappetto was the main celebrant of the funeral Mass. Burial followed in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby, Conn.
