Sister Barbara Doyle, C.S.J., a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 63 years died July 4 while residing in Maria Regina Residence, the sisters’ nursing home.

Formerly known as Sister Mary Evangelist, she entered the congregation from St. Raphael parish, Long Island City.

Sister Barbara’s local ministries included Holy Name, Windsor Terrace, 1959-1964; Ascension, Elmhurst, 1964-1968; St. Angela Hall Academy, Clinton Hill, 1969-1973; coordinator of language arts, Brooklyn Diocesan office, 1973-1974; Queen of Peace, Kew Gardens, 1974-1985; Immaculate Conception, Jamaica, 1986-1987; and St. Edmund H.S., Sheepshead Bay, 1987-2018. She retired in June 2018.

Her wake and funeral Mass took place in Maria Regina Chapel July 9-10, followed by her interment in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
