Letters to the Editor

No Longer Catholic Country

Dear Editor: Like many people, I’ve always seen Ireland as a “Catholic country.” However, that view changed forever with the vote on May 25th in which the Irish people repealed the Eighth Amendment which banned abortion (murder) in that country.

With this vote, it is obvious that life to many is not a sacred gift, the attitude being as long as I got mine, who cares.

As a staunch pro-lifer here in the USA, I pray that I will live to see Roe v. Wade overturned especially since science has destroyed all of the old arguments supporting abortion. The most appalling aspect of the vote in Ireland was seeing pictures of people celebrating their “victory” as if the prospect of killing millions of defenseless, innocent human is something to be celebrated not condemned. OUR VALUES HAVE DETERIORATED!
