The Nazareth R.H.S., East Flatbush, boys’ and girls’ basketball teams continued their string of recent successes by capturing CHSAA state titles.

The boys won the Class ‘A’ state title by defeating Canisius H.S., Buffalo, N.Y., 46-40 Saturday afternoon at Fordham University, the Bronx.

The Kingsmen outscored Canisius by 10 points in the final eight minutes, which propelled them to victory.

Junior forward Samson Usilo paced Nazareth with 14 pts., while junior forward Ahmad Alkhulaidi recorded a double-double with 12 pts. and 12 rebounds.

The Kingsmen will head upstate to Albany, N.Y., for the March 23 state federation tournament.

Playing in Class ‘A’, the girls’ team won its third straight state championship with a 73-56 victory over Cardinal Spellman H.S., the Bronx.

The Lady Kingsmen will take on Long Island Lutheran H.S., Brookville, L.I., in the upcoming federation tournament.
