After a 10-year absence, the Msgr. King Basketball Tournament returned to the St. Thomas Aquinas, Flatlands, Dec. 26-30. Named after Msgr. Jeremiah J. King – the parish pastor who oversaw the building of the gym – it was the first high school tournament played in a grammar school gym in the country.
This year, the 46th annual tournament, featuring eight teams, was made possible with the support of Msgr. John Brown, pastor at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Bedford Academy, Bedford-Stuyvesant, was crowned tournament champions, with CHSAA representative St. Edmund Prep H.S., Sheepshead Bay, finishing third. For more results visit stasports.org.
